"Debbie found some amazing window covering solutions for our clients, so I asked her to furnish my personal home. We had a kitchen door and window and front room that needed window coverings.

We went through lots of options as the home is from the 40’s and I didn’t want to modernize it too much. I wanted privacy from the neighbors views and at night, but didn’t necessarily need a black out set up. Knowing those parameters, we landed on a simple roller shade for the kitchen window and back yard door that was right next to window. I wanted something that had some woodsy/ grassy texture to add some interest but I didn’t want a big bulky mass to block out potential natural light. The roller shade is perfect. I use it every day. I’ve probably had them 8 months or so and they are working like a dream. Very smooth, no chunky start stop mechanisms like the old style I had. For the door she had them install little magnets a the bottom of the window so it doesn’t flop around when I open and close the door. Cuts down on the clattering and noise I was worried about. For the kitchen window- I am short and couldn’t reach the thumb tab with the counter depth in the way- so she suggested a wand with a hook. Now I can reach it no problem!

For the front room- this was a little harder- We have pets, and I am not into high maintenance products. Originally it had pleated curtains on a track and valance my Grandpa had made. Instead of changing out the whole system to a roller shade to match the kitchen, we kept the track and valance, and Debbie had her custom shop make me new curtains to put on the existing hooks. I wanted something light and neutral so they wouldn’t clash with other décor in the room. I needed something that would be graceful to not show stains as my Dogs stick their heads under the curtains and sit at the windows to watch the neighborhood. I looked through many of the samples Debbie had but didn’t find exactly what I wanted. I looked at local fabric stores and still couldn’t find anything. I came across a shower curtain from Magnolia homes that was just perfect. So, I worked with Debbie and the seamstress on the number of curtain panels I would need to make the total length for the new window. The Seamstress staged the seams on the pleats and folds and matched the grains. You can’t even tell that there are five sections! She also suggested since the outside is washable, to make a washable liner so that I could wash them at home! There was a little panic at one point that the curtain panels were being discontinued and I wouldn’t have enough. So, Debbie offered to go to her local store and see if they had any in stock. Ended up, we found enough, but she was ready and willing to go the extra mile to make sure my project got finished!
